Bronze Medal!
On Sunday there was a nice article about the best wines to have with an aspargus meal in the German newspaper "Der Tagesspiegel". Our "Weißer Burgunder" took 3rd place. If you know some German you can read the article here.

Christmas Wine Tasting 2011

Presentation 2011
We still haven't stopped smiling. Our wine presentation last Saturday was a giant success: It was extremely crowded, there was bright sunshine all day and the tasty snacks by top chef Harald Rüssel and his team matched the wines perfectly.

Why today we can't stop smiling
What a wonderful weather! We are so much looking forward to our sunny wine presentation tomorrow. Apart from that we are all smiles because our 2010 Riesling trocken wine was named "Wine of the Month" on Stuart Pigott's Planet Wine (English language website).

TV Team at the winery
So exciting! Yesterday our winery was part of a shooting for the TV production "Weinwunder Deutschland" starring wine expert Stuart Pigott. For the 2nd series of the serial programme which is produced by Bavarian television Stuart Pigott and his film crew visited us for a day full of shooting, testing and laughter. We can't wait to see the final result and will let you know when we know the air date (probably December 2011).

Wine Festival in Duisburg
We were really lucky with the weather, it did not rain too much during the wine festival in Duisburg. In a summer like this you are modest and accept compromises. Luckily when it comes to the wines they drink this does not apply for the visitors of the festival so our booth was very popular and our team Gabi, Anne, Guido and Ludger enjoyed the four days very much! On the road again!

A great Christmas Present

Value for Money
"A lot of sparkle over nothing" – in his column "Reiner Wein" in Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, Stuart Pigott wrote about a blind tasting of 26 sparkling wines from different regions, which was performed by a jury of experts and champagne lovers on Sunday, 12 December. "None of the champagnes was rated poor, however overprized, with one exception: the average price estimation was considerably lower than the actual prize. Contrary were the results for many German sparkling wines. In the range of rosé sparkling wines, the full, juicy and velvety "Pinot Brut" from Weingut Kirsten in Klüsserath/Mosel was evaluated very good value for money by the jury.”

Christmas Wine Tasting 2010
In the big snow flurry, this years’ wine tasting took place in Winterwonderland Mettmann. The gleaming atmosphere was not at all cooled down by the weather and our wines were enjoyed in our cosily warmed venue accompanied by Thai delicacies and stimulating conversations.

Honoured!
We were very happy to be on the Feinschmecker list of the "100 best wineries in Germany". "From the famous schist precipices [...], Kirsten also produced dry Rieslings with very fine and pure fruit flavours in the 2009 vintage."

Nespresso Pastry Cup
We recently sponsored the second Nespresso Pastry Cup. At the prize giving ceremony for the best “Jeunes Restaurateurs” at Nespresso Boutique in Frankfurt our wines were served accompanying delicious food. Our ‘representatives’ Gabi and Ludger clearly enjoyed the wonderful event.

Grape Harvest 2010
Yesterday we finished this years’ grape harvesting. We harvested fantastic grapes but unfortunately much too little (a problem in entire Germany this year, surely you have already read about the 2010 vintage in the newspaper?!). Now we are expecting splendid wines. You can look forward to it!
